Philosophical conference stresses urgency of environmental stewardship
The 9th Philosophical Conference, organized by the philosophy department of the Nativity of Our Lady College Seminary, was recently held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila. This year’s conference, held in collaboration with Earth-UST, an environmental organization of young students, was themed “From the Pulpit to the Community: Mobilizing for Environmental Stewardship in the Philippines.” Earth-UST President Krissel Mendieta stressed the need for the country to adopt both preventive and response measures for natural and human-made disasters by addressing environmental degradation. The conference marks one of many steps for the seminary in developing a plan to educate the public about environmental stewardship and raise awareness about abuses contributing to environmental degradation, particularly in Eastern Samar province.
