Church leader urges officials to embrace integrity on Heroes Day
Uy honored the sacrifices of Filipinos who fought for the country’s freedom, describing heroism not only as acts of valor on the battlefield but also as everyday choices grounded in love, sacrifice, and integrity. He warned that corruption, dishonesty, and self-interest continue to inflict “moral and spiritual wounds” on society, weakening institutions and burdening citizens. He also emphasized that heroism is not limited to national figures or public officials, citing parents who work hard for their families, youth who choose honesty, and communities that care for the environment and the poor as examples of modern-day heroes.
