MARIA TAN MARILAO, Bulacan– Hundreds of foreign delegates of the 4th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy (WACOM4) visited “places of mercy” in the Diocese of Bulacan on Thursday as part of their pilgrimage in the country. More than 600 delegates from 40 countries visited about 15 charitable institutions where they were shown the corporal and spiritual works of mercy of the diocese for street children, elderly, abused women and children, patients with mental illness, among others. Among the charitable institutions the foreign delegates visited were: Galilee Homes and the Dumagat community in Dona Remedios Trinidad Bahay ni San Martin; Nazareth Home for Street Children; Hospicio San Juan de Dios for Women in Bustos The other places of mercy include the Bethlehem House of Bread in Baliuag; Bahay Pangarap, Ephesus House, Tahanan ni Mother Rita in Guiguinto; Tahanang Mapagpala, Emmaus House of Apostolate in Malolos City; Lingap Bata Center, Bahay Kalinga in Sta.

    “I cannot understand the justification that the pope has to clarify his position.” The Cotabato archbishop was referring to the four prominent cardinals who publicly questioned the pontiff about communion for the divorced and remarried. Cardinals Walter Brandmüller, Raymond Burke, Carlo Caffarra, and Joachim Meisner said the Pope must “resolve the uncertainties and bring clarity.” But Cardinal Quevedo said the papal document only seeks to find out “pastoral applications” of the doctrine that would show compassion and mercy to those in troubled circumstances. He said some people think of that vision as “ideological” that “comes from the left.” “They are raising doctrinal objections to the pastoral concern of the Holy Father for mercy and compassion and those in great need,” said Cardinal Quevedo.
